Manual quote

Custom forging, made in Morocco and delivered to Africa and Europe

Forging produces parts with continuous grain flow, stronger in fatigue and impact than parts machined from solid: flanges, hubs, connecting rods, levers, hooks, safety pins, lifting and suspension parts. The DSSF CONNECT network covers open-die forging for one-offs and long parts, and closed-die hot forging for series with defined geometry.

The quote is manual: it separates the die, the forged blank, heat treatment and finish machining. The DSSF engineer checks drafts, radii and parting line, and proposes a machinable blank when quantity does not justify tooling.

Forging

Materials

Structural and alloy heat-treatable steels (C45, 42CrMo4), austenitic stainless, brass and forging aluminium; aerospace grades on consultation.

  • Aluminium 7075-T6
  • Steel C45
  • Stainless 316L
  • Brass CuZn39Pb3
  • Steel 42CrMo4 (forging)

DFM rules

  • Draft 3° to 7° (steel) on faces parallel to die travel.
  • Generous radii (≥ 3 mm); no sharp corners or thin walls (< 3 mm).
  • Parting line defined at quote; machining allowance 1.5 to 3 mm per face.
  • Holes, threads and tight dimensions are achieved by finish machining.

Quality and documents

3.1 material certificate and traceable heat treatment; hardness, magnetic particle or ultrasonic testing and post-machining dimensional report as options.

Related finishes

  • Bead blasting
  • Zinc plating
  • Heat treatment (quench, temper, case hardening)
  • Shot blasting

Variants covered

  • Open-die forging
  • Closed-die forging (hot stamping)

Capacities, series and lead times shown are orders of magnitude matching the network target; they are confirmed on each quote according to the selected shop. No prices are displayed on these pages.

Frequently asked questions

From what quantity does closed-die forging make sense?
When die cost is amortised over the series, generally from a few hundred parts; below that, open-die forging or a machined blank is proposed.
What tolerances on a forged blank?
Per ISO 8062-3 / DIN 7526 for closed-die forgings; functional dimensions are achieved by finish machining with the allowance stated in the quote.
Is heat treatment included?
It is offered in the quote: normalising, quench and temper or case hardening depending on grade and the target hardness stated on the drawing.
Which documents are needed?
Finished-part drawing with grade, hardness, machined zones and required inspections; the forged-blank STEP is produced by the forge and submitted for approval.
