Manual quote

Custom heat treatment, made in Morocco and delivered to Africa and Europe

Heat treatment gives parts the hardness, strength or dimensional stability required by the drawing: quench and temper of alloy steels, case hardening and carbonitriding of wear parts, nitriding of parts subject to wear, annealing and normalising after forging or welding, stress relief before finish machining. DSSF CONNECT integrates it into the manufacturing route, with monitored partner furnaces.

The quote is manual and priced per batch; the DSSF engineer checks the grade, target hardness, zones to mask and the sequence of operations (treatment before or after machining), then the Quality Hub checks hardness and requires the treatment certificate.

Heat treatment

Materials

C45, 42CrMo4 and case-hardening steels, tool steels; aluminium treatments (T6) on consultation.

  • Steel S235
  • Steel C45
  • Steel 42CrMo4 (forging)

DFM rules

  • State target hardness (HRC / HV) and case depth on the drawing; zones to be masked must be specified.
  • Allow for distortion: grinding or machining after treatment for tight dimensions.
  • The treatment certificate (cycle, furnace, batch) is provided; hardness test on a witness coupon as an option.

Quality and documents

Treatment certificate (cycle, furnace, batch), hardness test on part or witness coupon, case depth by micrograph as an option.

Variants covered

  • Quench and temper (alloy steels)
  • Case hardening / carbonitriding
  • Nitriding
  • Annealing, normalising, stress relief

Capacities, series and lead times shown are orders of magnitude matching the network target; they are confirmed on each quote according to the selected shop. No prices are displayed on these pages.

Frequently asked questions

Should treatment come before or after machining?
Both exist: rough machining → treatment → finishing is the most common route for tight dimensions; the DSSF engineer sets the sequence according to hardness and geometry.
Does heat treatment distort parts?
Yes, to an extent depending on geometry and grade; precise dimensions are finished after treatment (grinding) or the process plan includes an allowance.
How is hardness guaranteed?
By a hardness test recorded in the Quality Hub control plan and by the treater's certificate; the measured value appears in the report and the part passport.
Can parts made elsewhere be treated?
Yes: the part, its certified grade and the target hardness are provided; without a material certificate, a composition check may be proposed before treatment.
